FOXTROTT is a Montreal – based producer and artist. On November 20th, her LP A Taller Us will be released! Recently we got a chance to ask FOXTROTT about her music, her album, and performing in New York City.
Check out our interview with FOXTROTT!
upfrontNY: What inspired you to get involved with music?
FOXTROTT: I always played and wrote music, since very young. It took a while before I gained self-confidence to fully write and produce and perform my own songs. I spent many years experimenting and playing around, until finding my own sound.
upfrontNY: How would you describe your sound?
FOXTROTT: Fat, Warm and Melodic.
upfrontNY: Can you tell us about your album, “A Taller Us”?
FOXTROTT: It is a collection of songs from my early twenties, exploring very personal themes. Letting go of fears, doubts, experiencing life as a young adult. Facing difficulties, joys, all sorts of emotions that inspired those songs.
upfrontNY: Do you have a favorite song from your upcoming album?
FOXTROTT: I don’t! It changes all the time.
upfrontNY: You recently performed in New York City. What’s the best part of performing in NYC?
FOXTROTT: The crowd was amazing, very open minded, very curious and attentive. People are exposed to a lot of great music from all over the place, so it feels great when the crowd is responsive and gets what you’re doing musically!
upfrontNY: Is there a city or venue that you hope to one day perform at?
FOXTROTT: I would love to perform in Mexico City.
upfrontNY: What do you want people to know about you and your music?
FOXTROTT: I try to make music in the most emotionally honest way, inspired and connected to my true self. I hope that this resonates with people and helps them in some way or the other.
upfrontNY: The new year is right around the corner. Do you have any big plans or goals for 2016?
FOXTROTT: The record will finally be out, so I plan to start writing a bunch of new music, playing fun shows, colalborating with other artists, keep pushing myself and stay connected to my creativity!
