Gabe Eggerling is a talented young actor! From filming, to voice-over work, he has been making a name for himself! We got to interview Gabe about acting, “The Kicks”, his love of reading, and more!

 

upfrontNY: What do you love most about acting?

Gabe Eggerling: Acting is a whole other world where you pretend to be different people, being able to act as someone who is funny and then going out on an audition for someone who is more dramatic. I like to be able to switch from one to the other.

 

upfrontNY: How did you get your start in acting?

Gabe Eggerling: I auditioned for a short film when I was about to turn 7. My mom said, hey why don’t we try this. I liked it and reading scripts. I got the role and that’s what started it.

 

upfrontNY: Can you tell me about the show, “The Kicks”?

Gabe Eggerling: “The Kicks” is a soccer show. It is about family and friends and everything that comes along with that. It is a nice happy family show. There are a few problems that the main characters have to go through. The main story is about a family trying to fit in because they moved from the east coast to the west coast.

 

upfrontNY: Can you tell me about your character, Bailey ?

Gabe Eggerling: Bailey is the main character Devin’s brother. I am laid back and cool about things on the surface. Once the story continues, you see more of my colors.

 

upfrontNY: What has been the best part for you being on set filming the show?

Gabe Eggerling: It was a lot of fun to be on set because I got to do school with all my cast members. They also have the coolest cameras there!

 

upfrontNY: You have done a lot of voice over work. Do you have a favorite character you have done?

Gabe Eggerling: I have done a lot of characters . I feel really attached to all the characters I’ve done because they feel like me. I really like the role I did, Jake for “Jake and The Neverland Pirates”. It is the first Disney Junior show. 5 years ago when it came out, I used to watch it, and now it’s 5 years later and they are finishing the show and doing the last season. I think it is great that I am being able to contribute to a show that I used to watch all the time as a kid and that I adore.

 

upfrontNY: Do you have a type of role or film u want to be in ?

Gabe Eggerling: There a lot of different things that I wish I could be in. I think it would be great to have a lead role in a fantasy movie.

 

upfrontNY: Do you have a favorite actor or actress you would like to work with?

Gabe Eggerling: I really like the director, Jeff Nichols. He directed one of my favorite movies, “Mud” with Matthew McConaughey which is one of the actors I would love to work with.

 

upfrontNY: When you are not acting, what do you like to do?

Gabe Eggerling: I have a lot of things that I do. In the TV show, “The Kicks”, Bailey does not play soccer, but in real life, I love to play soccer! I love video games and photography. I also do philanthropy work and I have a non-profit.

 

upfrontNY: Can you tell us about your non profit?

Gabe Eggerling: My nonprofit is called Miss Hero. (Helping Everyone Read Out Loud)

I am promoting literacy and reading. I have given books out to places like Peru. All around Southern California, I read to schools with a program call SAG Book Pals. I’ve been doing that since I was 6 or 7.

 

upfrontNY: Has reading always been very important to you?

Gabe Eggerling: Yes, I love reading! I have so many different books that I read all the time. I have always loved reading. You are taken to a different world when you are reading, brought to a new land, and can be brought to the past or the future.
