upfrontNY: You recently released your new single, “Better Now.” Can you tell us about the meaning of the song?

Nesta!: This song is one of the most intimate songs, it is about my relationship with my partner and the trials and tribulations we go through together. It is about a time in our life when our relationship came to a point that we didn’t know if it was going to survive, and figuring out why I couldn’t be available for the amazing bounty of love that was available for me. We all have trauma and our backstory, and it was about a time in my life when I had to examine what was holding me back from receiving the abundance of love and realizing I had to heal the trauma to progress to the next level of love. It’s about learning to love myself.

upfrontNY: You have your own Record Label. How did you get stared with it?

Nesta!: The last album was signed to a German Label and it was great experience and to understand from an artist side now I can understand from a label side.

I thought I should start a label and call it Lovie records. It is fueled by love; my love of music, love of life, love of my friendships, and the people I get to work with. I wanted that energy to resonate throughout the project and label.

upfrontNY: How did you get your start in EDM music?

Nesta!: I am a singer – songwriter first and have a passion for writing. After I released my first album, a pop album we ran a contest on the website Indaba. They host remix contests where as an artist you put your music, and producers can remix the style of music. Over the course of 6 weeks there were all different versions of my song coming through from different producers and their take on it. It blew my mind how much talent there was in this dance EDM world. I could feel the genre was about the love.

upfrontNY: Aside from music, you are also a wellness coach. Can you tell us about this experience?

Nesta!: I have a real passion for health and wellness and it is something I’ve done my entire life. My husband and I have a wellness company. It is an online coaching platform called beethewellness.com. People can join and we give them workouts, what to eat, and guided meditations. It is a holistic – wellness program that people can participate in. We wanted to make it pretty inexpensive so people can have access to it no matter what income level they were.

upfrontNY: What are you working on right now?

Nesta!: “Surrender “ is coming out in October. I’m planning a small tour around that in October with the release party. We are putting dates together primarily on the west coast and I am always creating new material. We just shot the video for” Better Now” and that will be coming out in a couple weeks.

In terms of wellness we have a retreat early next year in Costa Rica.

There are always different things going on, and they are all heading in a good direction and fun!
