On Saturday afternoon, 95.5 PLJ made many dreams come true! The radio station held a listening event with the Backstreet Boys for a room full of excited fans. Race Taylor interviewed the Backstreet Boys while the event streamed live on Facebook.
While waiting for the event to start, fans in the audience were chatting about their favorite song on the new album ‘DNA’, their favorite BSB experience, and how long they have been a fan. The room filled with screams and applause as AJ, Nick, Kevin, Howie, and Brian made their way to the stage followed by an interview about their new album, their families, and more.
‘DNA’ is their tenth studio album and was released on January 25th. “Chances”, “Breathe”, and “No Place” which was a clear fan favorite were played for the audience. The Backstreet Boys talked about working on the album for 3 years recording in Vegas, Los Angeles, and Nashville. AJ said they believe it is one of their best albums yet. Not only did they spend those years working hard on recording the album but, also balancing their time to focus on their families spending time going to soccer practices, coaching basketball, and going to ballet class.
Some exciting things are on the way in the next few weeks including a Superbowl commercial with Chance The Rapper and attending the 61st Annual Grammys with their 8th Grammy nomination, something they feel very honored about.
Race Taylor ended the interview with what he called the recycled interview, questions that were not originally intended for Backstreet Boys. Question number 1 was from American Bandstand in 1964 with Dick Clark talking to the Beach Boys asking what their favorite beach was and the second was at the Sky Media Press Fair a question for the Beastie Boys in the early 1990s. Influenced by “No Sleep Till Brooklyn”, when was the last time you were up all night? Head to 95.5 PLJ’s Facebook page to see how these questions were answered and to watch the interview!
Following the event was the opportunity many had waited years for, some waiting 20+ years. The chance to meet and take a picture with the Backstreet Boys!
