As talented actress, Dee Wallace is well known for her role as playing the mother in the iconic film, ET. Aside from acting, Dee has had experience as a life coach, high school teacher, dance teacher, and acting coach.
Dee has developed an interactive toy called BuppaLaPaloo. This bear is designed to not only be a child’s best friend, but also promote self-love.
Recently we got a chance to speak with Dee Wallace about BuppaLaPaloo, how it can be used, and her Kickstarter campaign.
“The child pushes the paw, the bear says 14 empowering statements like “I love me” and the child then says it back to the bear, “I love me.”
With all her experience working with children and young adults, she started looking at 1000s of sessions she has done, and how she counseled people and told us that one thing seemed to be in common, many people didn’t love who they were.
“When I started focusing on that and bringing that into the community that I work with, the question was, how do you love yourself?” This is what started her journey to developing BuppaLaPaloo.
We asked Dee how teachers could utilize BuppaLaPaloo in the classroom.
“The first discussion I would do as a teacher is to get the bear to say different statements and ask the kids to get up and joyfully say the statement that the bear said and talk about it. Start getting them in touch with how they claim their own power, own beauty, and own love. I think it can start a great conversation about bullying and I think the bear is a great tool that teachers can use to teach children how to empathize. “
Dee is very passionate about this interactive toy and encouraging self-love in others.
“Passion means to me something I can’t wait to get up in the morning to do, that I would do for absolutely no money because I love doing it and I have a deep knowing in myself that there is a purpose here for me that I want to share with the world. I am supposed to be doing this.”
