Recently we got the chance to interview Gianna Simone. Gianna is an actress who is currently starring in the new comedy “Mother’s Day” directed by Gary Marshall.
It all began when Gianna was 16 years old and wanted to become a model. While growing up in Boston she got her modeling portfolio done and shopped it around to agencies. After approaching and being rejected by a top agency twice, she knew she wouldn’t give up. She had a difficult experience while growing up in foster care, which inspired her motivation for success. “My personality is naturally that of a fighter. If someone tells me no, I keep getting back up and fighting. I think that makes me more driven and gives me more fuel.”
She started working hard and began booking her own jobs on her own. A photographer friend encouraged her to try acting. After booking a campaign, she went back to the top agency for a 3rd time, and this time was signed. She became successful in modeling and ended up falling in love with acting.
While growing up in foster care, she was inspired by many people including her father, and a woman named Kathy. Kathy owned a gym downstairs from the gymnastics academy where she would work out. “We became really good friends. She took me under her wings. She was one of the first people I genuinely felt love from. She inspired me to be me and live my life as a person to believe in myself and know that I am loved.”
Gianna can now be seen in the film “Mother’s Day”. “I play the only pregnant mom in the film. I really loved Val because I think she is a unique character. To play a pregnant mom when there are only a few different moms in the film was really special to me. It represents new beginnings in life and a time in a mother’s life where she is just starting out on a new journey whether she already has kids or not.”
Gianna really enjoyed the opportunity to work with so many talented actresses in this film including Jennifer Aniston, Julia Roberts, and Britt Robertson. Not only was it exciting to film the movie, but to also to attend the premiere and see the finished product. “There are steps of what you do. You focus on things, you’re doing them, and then they are done and you get to see the finished product. I think being at the premiere was that final step of sitting back and realizing I am here. I am so thankful for it.”
Gianna can also be seen in the film “God’s Not Dead 2″. “I play a little bit of a bad guy. The storyline is that Melissa Joan Hart is a teacher who shares her faith with a student who had just experienced a death in her family. She gets in trouble for it.” She felt that this movie shared an important message with others to “Have hope and faith and share a good message of love and support with others. Religion shouldn’t be killing people or negative, it is beautiful.” Elizabeth is trying to take down Melissa Joan Harts character. “I like playing the villain. I always say you can’t know light without dark and you cant have a good guy without having a bad guy. They are equally as important. It was challenging, but exciting at the same time.”
Gianna is currently living in LA where she believes she is exactly where she should be! Not only is she pursuing acting, but also enjoying learning other passions of hers including how to speak Italian, how to play guitar and piano, aerial acrobatics, and giving back to others. She recently wrapped a 10 episodes sitcom called “Hitting The Breaks” where she is a co-producer and plays a vegan restaurant owner.
“I am passionate about influencing others in a positive way with a good message .”
