Guster released their new album ‘Look Alive’ on Friday, January 18th. In celebration of the first album in 4 years, fans gathered at The Strand Book Store – Rare Books Room for a SOLD OUT event.
Chopped Host Ted Allen joined Guster to talk about their career and new album while sipping on Coronas. When asked how he had heard of the band, Ted Allen explained how he was on an airplane and he had watched the movie Martian Child and heard their song “Satellite”. That led to him being a fan.
The discussion talked about who the band is listening to, their families, their favorite part of touring, and their new album ‘Look Alive’.
Throughout the fun and entertaining talk, the band even started taking time away from themselves and began interviewing Ted Allen about who he is listening to, his career, and Chopped.
Following the live discussion was an audience Q&A where the audience asked questions such as what color would you be in a crayon box, what they would be doing if they weren’t in the band, their favorite songs to play live, and if they competed on chopped – who would win.
The band decided to leave the front of the room and engage with the crowd by moving to the middle of the room for their acoustic performance.
The performance included 3 songs. Hard Times was the first song followed by a cover of “Crying, Laughing, Loving, Lying”.
Next up the band invited Ted Allen to perform “Satellite” with them.
The night ended with a moment many members of the crowd had been waiting for…. their chance to meet the band and have their own copy of ‘Look Alive’ signed.
