Check out our interview with Jet about acting, Adventures in Babysitting, and what he is excited to do this summer!
upfrontNY: How did you get into acting and what do you love most about it ?
Jet Jurgensmeyer:I started acting when I was 4. I started out singing and playing guitar on stage when I was three. I tried acting and I loved it. I’m 11 now. One of the things I love most about it is getting to be somebody that you’re not, getting to feel what that person had to go through. I especially love it when it’s a true story and you get to feel what that person had to go through. Another thing is getting to meet new people!
upfrontNY: Who are some of your favorites that you have worked with?
Jet Jurgensmeyer: All of the cast and crew on Adventures in Babysitting. We all got along so well and still hang out. That was one of the best experiences that I have had. Another one was when I was on Hot in Cleveland and getting to work with Betty White. It was amazing. She was so nice and hilarious. It was also an honor to work with Doris Roberts.
upfrontNY: Have you received any advice from others you have worked with?
Jet Jurgensmeyer: So many people that I have worked with have given me advice. If you like what you’re doing, stick with it! When I worked with Sean Astin in Woodlawn, he told me that too, go have fun with what you’re doing. and if you like it, keep doing it.
upfrontNY: Can you tell us who you play in Woodlawn?
Jet Jurgensmeyer: I play Todd. It is a great movie for the family. It is a story that definitely needs to be told.
upfrontNY: Can you tell us about playing Bobby in Adventures in Babysitting?
Jet Jurgensmeyer: Adventures in babysitting is about kids that are getting into a lot of trouble. It starts off when one of the kids runs off to a concert. It turns into bad guys and cops and they are on the run throughout the whole night. They are on the wire of not getting caught by their parents.
I play Bobby Anderson and he is a want to be chef. His dream is to be a big chef, and no matter where he goes he loves food. He is kind of a comedian too. He is go with the flow and is like I don’t care, you guys can take me anywhere as long as I get to try food.
upfrontNY: Are you like your character Bobby and do you have a favorite meal?
Jet Jurgensmeyer: I love to cook too so I am quite a bit like Bobby Anderson. My cousin is a chef and basically everything I know comes from him or my parents. I like to try different foods. I am not crazy on onions or peppers, but if they are sautéed onions I am ok with it! One of my favorite meals is bacon and eggs. That is my dream meal.
upfrontNY: You are are also a part of Legends of the Hidden Temple. Is it based off the TV show?
Jet Jurgensmeyer: Yes, it is based off the TV show. It is fun talking to people through Instagram and Facebook who watched the show all the time and are so excited. I had someone contact me through Instagram who was on the original show and is really excited for the movie to come out. I was shocked to talk to someone who had been on the show.
upfrontNY: If you had the chance to go into a real jungle and go thru obstacles would you be excited?
Jet Jurgensmeyer: I like to go through obstacles I think they are fun. I watch American Ninja Warrior and those are really cool obstacles. There are no obstacles like the legends of the hidden temple ones.
upfrontNY: Aside from acting what do you like to do?
Jet Jurgensmeyer: I like to sing, dance, play guitar, soccer, and basketball. I love to hang out with my friends and family. I consider acting as doing something fun, I don’t consider it as work.
upfrontNY: Would you like to have a future role where you get to sing and play guitar?
Jet Jurgensmeyer: Yes, definitely, I would love to do that. I have always wanted to be in a musical. In the last few days I have been watching High School Musicals and it makes me want to be in a musical even more.
upfrontNY: Do you have a favorite band or song?
Jet Jurgensmeyer: I love the Beatles. I am learning how to play Let It Be on the guitar and to sing it. I like Sugar by Maroon 5 and Four Five Seconds.
upfrontNY: Do you have a favorite thing to do during Summer?
Jet Jurgensmeyer: I love to swim, go to my farm in Missouri, and see my friends and family. Getting to ride horses , fishing, and all the outdoorsy stuff.
