upfrontNY: Can you tell us how you are helping end childhood hunger?
Jakari Fraser: I am finding fun and creative ways to raise money to help feed the youth that are in need of food. I have some fun and exciting new things this year that I will be doing to help continue to raise money so that child hood hunger is no longer a issue.
upfrontNY: Can you tell us about the dance a thon that you did with William Willdabeast Adams?
Jakari Fraser: Omg! It was amazing… people came from different parts of the country to dance with us. Will is simply amazing, he is so encouraging and he just makes you feel like your the only one in a class of 70+ people. He has a way of bringing out the best in people , I’m so glad I was able to witness that first hand!
upfrontNY: What does it mean to you to be able to help and support so many children?
Jakari Fraser: It means the world to me, everyday I want to be able to do something kind, something that will make a difference. Doing this brings so much joy to my heart, and it helps me understand other people’s worlds. Not everyone has opportunities like me and my family, so I want to help create and provide that for kids that go without!
upfrontNY: When did this become an important topic for you?
Jakari Fraser: I remember watching TV and over hearing my grandmother talk about in her day… (laughing) she said she went some nights without eating and my stomach felt sick for some reason. So all day it bothered me. Finally I asked my mom do all kids eat everyday. She looked at me with a sad face and said no, no Jakari not all kids eat. And I was really crushed, I went back to my grandma and asked what does it feel like? And she told me the truth about her experience. I went back to mom and I asked her how many Instagram followers I had. And she looked at me very strange then she told me. I said I want to use my platform to help feed kids. And my mom and I did research together and found No kid hungry and the rest…. well it’s still being written.
upfrontNY: What can others do to help fight childhood hunger?
Jakari Fraser: Other people can help by going to nokidhungry.org and clicking the link to join the fight to end childhood hunger. There are so many different ways to join the fight!
upfrontNY: What do you enjoy most about acting?
Jakari Fraser: I enjoy everything about it (laughs) it’s just something I think I was born to do. It’s always new, nothing is the same about each role or acting experience. It’s something I can do for the rest of my life and I plan on doing just that!
upfrontNY: You have worked with Julia Roberts, Melissa Mccarthy and many others. What has it been like to work with such talented actors?
Jakari Fraser: Awww man! It has been an amazing experience. They have all been so genuine, always giving me great advice and treating me like family! I also have learned so much from each and every one of them.
upfrontNY: You were in Baking Christmas- What was it like being in a christmas movie?
Jakari Fraser: I loooovveeedd every minute of it. It’s like I had Christmas twice in 2019 (laughing) there were some great family/Christmas scenes. I especially loved watching it with my family during the holidays, because we usually watch Christmas movies together.
upfrontNY: What is it like being the voice of many brands on tv and radio?
Jakari Fraser: It’s very fun… I love to come alive in the both. The most amazing part of all is you have to use your imagination to see what’s going on. Because at the stage when we are recording there is usually no animation done yet!
upfrontNY: Can you tell us about your upcoming projects?
Jakari Fraser: Woooww I have some amazing upcoming voiceover and film projects. I can’t talk about any of them right now, but stay tuned. I can say I have a film project coming up where Karruche Tran and Stephen Dorff play my parents and it’s going to be a really good movie. It does not have a release date yet!
