An Interview with Joanna Going
From playing First Lady Tricia Walker on Netflix’s Emmy nominated series “House of Cards” to playing Christina Kulina, a drug addict and prostitute in the DirectTV show, “Kingdom,”Joanna Going has shown her wide range of acting in the characters that she has played.
Christina is the estranged wife of of Alvey Kulina and the mother of two boys, Jay and Nate. “Last season we followed Christina get forcibly detoxed out of love from her son. Now, how is she going to walk the straight and narrow path without the proper support. She gets left to her own devices as her sons are wrapped up in their own lives and we will see her trying to find a way to live.”
Christina has gone through so much in season one and many people have reached out to Joanna about their own experiences. Through social media and calling in during a radio show she did in the Seattle/ Vancouver area, people contacted Joanna about how her character and the show have inspired them to change their lives.“It means a lot. This Is my work, my acting, what I do. You hope that every once in a while you get to inspire someone and make a social statement too.”
Joanna played a very different role as First Lady Tricia Walker on “House of Cards”. We wondered what it would be like if Joanna had the opportunity to spend a night exploring the White House what she would do.
“I’ve always been fascinated with Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis. I would have the list of influences she made, which were great, in the White House. She transformed the White House in her time there, bringing in a lot of art and furniture making it historical, a museum of America as much of a home, and the center of our government.”
