Kendal Conrad will be performing a free show at Rockwood Music Hall Stage 1 this Sunday, October 6th at 7 p.m. Come by for a great night of music by Kendal! We got to chat with Kendal about her upcoming show, her favorite thing about performing in NYC, and what she loves most about Fall!
upfrontNY: You are playing Rockwood Music Hall on October 6th. Can you tell us about this performance and what you are most excited about?
Kendal Conrad: This performance will be similar to my “opening act” style shows. I’ll play acoustic guitar and banjo over tracks of my original music and some cover songs. I love the energy of that big sound, and I love the feel of that heavy bass beat in my chest. This is my first solo show in NYC, so I am PUMPED.
upfrontNY: What is the best part of performing in NYC?
Kendal Conrad: When I was in high school, I played some original songs on a stool with my acoustic guitar at the Bitter End. My parents came, and I just remember the city being so big and bright and full of promise.
upfrontNY: Do you have a favorite song to perform live?
Kendal Conrad: Right now it’s the first single off of my forthcoming EP called “Come to Your Senses.”
upfrontNY: You have opened for Chris Lane in Iowa, Adam Doleac in NJ, and Trace Adkins in PA. What is your dream location to play next and who would you like to perform with?
Kendal Conrad: Opening for Keith Urban at Red Rocks in Colorado would be a huge thrill for me. Or Madison Square Garden with Taylor Swift! I have a lot of respect for both artists.
upfrontNY: Can you tell us about your experience performing the National Anthem for the NY Mets?
Kendal Conrad: AMAZING. Citi Field is gorgeous, and the fans were so kind to me, despite the fact that I am a Philadelphian. The Emmy Squared burger that I ate afterwards wasn’t too shabby either.
upfrontNY: Can you tell us about your single “Come to Your Senses”?
Kendal Conrad: It’s crazy that “Come to Your Senses” has over 100,000 streams on Spotify. I wrote this song about my own frustrations with dating, how a relationship won’t go anywhere unless you show up for it. It’s so cool to see that message take off and have so many people connect with it.
upfrontNY: What is it like having so many people support you and listen to your song?
Kendal Conrad: Beyond grateful. As an artist, I write songs to share my world with the world, so it’s humbling and also rewarding to have so many people digging what I have to say.
upfrontNY: Fall is here! What are some of your favorite things about Fall?
Kendal Conrad: FALL IS MY FAVORITE SEASON (CAPS LOCK IS ON BECAUSE I’M THAT EXCITED). What don’t I like about fall? Leaves changing colors, crisp air, candles that smell like spices, sweaters, boots, Halloween, horror movies, and all things pumpkin. Not to mention… I may be dropping a new single, just in time for my favorite holiday.
