Lexy Panterra chatted with us about her EP Gemini Valentine, her fitness company Twerkout, and more!
upfrontNY: Can you tell us about your EP Gemini Valentine and your inspiration behind it?
Lexy Panterra: This EP was basically a product of my frustration regarding not being able to put out records on my own terms when I was working with a different manager. This really held me back creatively, so I decided to do things on my own terms. I finally collected five of them I have had for a while, and I thought it would be best to fit them all into one EP. I chose an overarching theme that really pulled the songs together, and I went for it! I love holidays, and Valentine’s Day seemed like it aligned well enough with the messages behind the tracks, so it felt like that was the perfect time to drop it!
upfrontNY: Do you have a special place that you like to write?
Lexy Panterra: I love to write on the spot, in the studio. Or sometimes, tunes and lyrics just come to be at random times of the day, when I’ll have a certain melody in my head, or I’ll start singing lyrics. I have them in my voice notes and phone recordings, so it’s kind of my little secret! Maybe not anymore when I release them, but it’s fun to be able to have a free-flowing creative process.
upfrontNY: Do you have a favorite song or lyric from your EP?
Lexy Panterra: “Room” is my personal favorite. It’s dark.
upfrontNY: Can you tell us about your song “Want Him Now” and what was the best part of filming the music video?
Lexy Panterra: “Want Him Now” was based on a true story about my ex-boyfriend, who couldn’t handle my lifestyle as an artist. Unfortunately, it happens often and it sucks. But it’s taught me to not settle for anyone who can’t respect and support my dreams and aspirations. As for the music video, I’m so grateful to have had an incredible team on set! When everyone contribute to making the vision come to life, the process is so much more fun and enjoyable.
upfrontNY: You have collaborated with many artists including DJ Snake, Marshmello, Lil Yachty. Who have you not yet worked with that you hope to?
Lexy Panterra: I want to do a record with Summer Walker. I’m currently obsessed!
upfrontNY: What is your dream venue, city, or country to perform?
Lexy Panterra: Staples Center in Los Angeles, baby! Come to me when I’m ready.
upfrontNY: Aside from music, you own a fitness company, Twerkout. Can you tell us about this?
Lexy Panterra: LTO Fitness is a fitness class based around twerking. Our motto is, “ConfiDance Through Movement.” It’s all about owning what you’ve got, working it, and embracing it! It’s a full body workout filled with many different types of people who all have the same goals.
upfrontNY: What is your favorite song to workout to?
Lexy Panterra: I’m weird! I like to workout to slow music, mostly ’90s stuff!
upfrontNY: You are a singer-songwriter, actress, have your own fitness company, and collaborate with so many brands. What drives you?
Lexy Panterra: Just my crazy little passions in my head that I can’t get rid of! I’ll tell you where it drives me… up a wall! I can never turn my mind off, and I’m constantly creating, setting new goals, and challenging myself to achieve greater accomplishments. I’m driven by stories that inspire my music, my fans who support me, and other artists who are killing it.
upfrontNY: Do you have something you have not yet accomplished that you are working toward?
Lexy Panterra: Everything! There’s so much on my list that I’m constantly pursuing. I really want to find a sick booking agent who will set up some great shows for my fans to come to. I want them to run up on the stage with me, and for it to be a giant party! My fans are so important to me, and I’d love to perform for them in the best and most fun way.
upfrontNY: What do you want to say to all of your followers who continue to support you and everything you do?
Lexy Panterra: I love you, so love me back 🙂
