Welcome to Music Monday
December 12th
This week’s Music Monday questions were answered by
Antonius Maximus Rex from Libro Musica!
What is your current go to song?
“Too Be Alone” by Hozier from his self-titled debut album is one that I have been listening to a lot lately. My girlfriend and I are celebrating the anniversary of when we first met and a Hozier concert was where we decided to be together. It’s a dark and gritty song but the chorus sings of a longing desire to be with someone.
Who is the last person you saw in concert?
My last concert was Mary J. Blige and Maxwell on their King + Queen of Hearts Tour Two great R&B and soul artists that have been a fan of since the 90’s. Mary J. and Maxwell performed songs from their catalog and their 2016 releases.
Their new music “Lake by the Ocean” and “Thick Of It” show that they are still at the peak of their careers.
Who is an artist that everyone needs to check out?
While in Boston last week, I attended a showcase at The Berklee College of Music. One artist that stood out during that event was Mafalda. Her vocals and lyrics are superb. Look for her on Soundcloud and Spotify
What event are you looking forward to attending?
This weekend I step out of my usual routine and will be at Big Beat Festival in Atlanta . The Big Beat Festival is a one night cross-genre music festival ( trap, hip hop, dance, bass, and more) with national and local DJs What I’m really looking forward to is how they pull of their indoor snow storm!?!
What is your favorite holiday song?
There are many, many songs that are on my list of favorite holiday songs. If I had to select one it would be “Hallelujah” from Handel’s Messiah: A Soulful Celebration tops my list.
