Maxwell James is a talented young actor on the rise. Max can be seen as young Adam in ABC’s The Family. The show was created by Jenna Bans (Scandal, Grey’s Anatomy) and follows the return of Adam, a politician’s son who disappeared a decade earlier. His family believed that Adam had died, and are completely shocked when Adam reappears. The show follows the family adjusting to Adam’s return and finding out if he really is who he says he is.

upfrontNY: What do you love most about acting?
Maxwell James: love to perform. I love the excitement of being on set. It’s incredible. It’s hard to explain, but being on a set feels very natural to me.
upfrontNY: How did you get involved it acting?
Maxwell James: I had performed in a school dance production and my friend’s mom told my mom that I should be doing something in the performing arts. My parents asked me if I wanted to try it, and I did, and I started taking classes. I love my acting school. The first part I booked was an independent short film. I auditioned and found out that I got the part on my birthday, so that was exciting.
upfrontNY: Can you tell us about your role as Young Adam in The Family?
Maxwell James: Young Adam is a smart kid, and thoughtful, and does a lot of things kids do, but is also a little lonely. He ended up in a really horrible situation. Some of my favorite scenes are coming up in the new episodes.
upfrontNY: What has been the best part of playing Young Adam?
Maxwell James: The best part is getting to meet so many people. I enjoyed working with the incredible actors and directors on the show, and all of the crew were really nice. I also love being on different sets and seeing how the set designs work. They look so real! There are so many people doing so many things, and it’s cool to be a part of that.
upfrontNY: What is your dream role or tv show to be on?
Maxwell James: I want to be Han Solo.
upfrontNY: What do you like to do when your not acting?
Maxwell James: I mostly like to hang out with my friends. I also really like to play video games and watch the video blogs about my favorite games.

Song – I have so many favorites, but the first to come to me is Star Man by David Bowie.

Number 1 favorite thing about New York City – A great day out would be to go to lunch at Dallas BBQ with my parents, and then go to the VIDEOGAMESNY store or to the Nintendo NY store.
Favorite Place in NYC – I love to go to the schoolyard after school to play Six Square with my friends.
What place do you really want to visit – The Statue of Liberty
Do you have a Broadway show that is your favorite or that you want to see- Matilda. I love the soundtrack and the Miss Trunchbull character.
Favorite season in NYC – I like spring the most, because that’s when everything comes back to life, and there are more colors.
