Natalie Nylon is a singer – songwriter who recently released her 3rd album, “7th Heaven.”
We recently got a chance to talk to Natalie about her music and what she loves about New York City.
Natalie told us that she got involved with music at a young age. She learned to play piano, viola, and bass guitar. While growing up she was involved in musicals and playing in a band. She told us, “I have been playing music for as long as I can remember.” Even though Natalie tried other hobbies, she knew that music was her future. “Music was all I wanted to do.”
Natalie lives bi-costal. For the past 2 years, she has been working on her most recent album “7th Heaven.” With her family on the east coast, and her friends and the nightlife on the west coast, Natalie is loving what both coasts have to offer. “It is really fun and keeps things exciting.”
Growing up, Natalie was influenced by punk rock and played in a punk rock band. Her music style changed and she describes her sound as.” Electronic dance music with a euro twist. My east coast writing is more mellow and heartfelt, not as upbeat.”
Natalie has had exciting opportunities with her music, including having her song “XXX” on the shows FX’s American Horror Story and Showtime’s The Real L World. “It was the most incredible thing ever. When I first got that phone call, my mouth was on the floor. I couldn’t believe it,” she told us. If given the chance to have her song on any other show, she would choose Game of Thrones!
Music also opened a world of travel to her. We asked her if all of her traveling has inspired her music. “Absolutely. the people, the cities, and everything I see. Everything that happens in my life affects my music because I write based on what I go through.
Throughout her travels, her favorites have been Amsterdam and Hawaii. “I wrote “7th Heaven” about Hawaii because I fell in love with it when I was there. “ Next on her bucket travel list is Madrid and Barcelona which she is planning to go in the spring.
Fun Fact-When not in the studio, Natalie can be found on the tennis courts!
