Our New York entertainer of the week is up and coming actress and Brooklyn native Victoria Konefal. Bursting on the scene with her ongoing role as Ciara Brady on Days of Our Lives, be sure to look out for her portraying the villain in the horror indie film Fog City.
upfrontNY: What was the main reason that you chose to pursue a career in acting?
Victoria Konefal: My soul immediately connected to the craft. I started acting at the age of seven and fell in love with everything about it. Once I realized I could play pretend for a living, I couldn’t see myself doing anything else.
upfrontNY: You are just breaking onto the scene and already are making a name for yourself. To this date what has been your greatest accomplishment?
Victoria Konefal: Being a member of the cast when we won the Emmy for outstanding drama series! It’s a moment that I am seriously proud of.
upfrontNY: Had you watched Days of Our Lives before being part of the cast?
Victoria Konefal: I used to watch it with my mom as a kid! She was an avid Days watcher.
upfrontNY: Tell us about what it has been like to portray Ciara Brady on Days of Our Lives?
Victoria Konefal: It’s been amazing! I get to play a strong, independent woman who sets a great example for young girls. I’m proud of Ciara Brady.
upfrontNY: What has it meant to you to be a part of such a longstanding successful show?
Victoria Konefal: It’s a trip for sure. The show has so much history, and to learn about the prominence it had in cinematic history was dignifying.
My favorite part about the show though, is that it plays a huge role in Joey Tribianis life. I am a HUGE Friends fan and re-watching the episodes after I booked the show was super exciting.
upfrontNY: How did it feel to get the opportunity to represent the show on The Talk and discuss winning Best Outstanding Drama Series at the 45th Annual Daytime Emmy Awards?
Victoria Konefal: It was exciting! I was honored to be one of the 5 chosen, and it made me appreciate my job even more.
upfrontNY: What was it like to portray the villain in the upcoming indie horror film Fog City?
Victoria Konefal: It was incredible! A villainous character is way too much fun to play around with. You really get to let loose and experiment.
upfrontNY: Do you like to be cast as the bad girl / villain? What type of role do you prefer to portray?
Victoria Konefal: I love those roles! Although my dream role as of late is a strong, athletic lead. Something like “I Tonya” or “Million Dollar Baby”.
