Olivia Sanabia is a singer, songwriter, multi-instrumentalist, and actress. Olivia can be seen as Charlotte Wrather in “Coop & Cami Ask the World” and Kelly Quinn in the Amazon Original Series, “Just Add Magic.” Aside from acting she recently released her debut single “Stars Crossed”! Check out our interview where we chat about her new single, acting, and more.

upfrontNY: Can you tell us about your single “Stars Crossed” and the inspiration behind it?
Olivia Sanabia: This is my debut single. It is mainly inspired by my love of Romeo and Juliet, but it’s an alternate take on the classic story. There are several references to the original Shakespearean play in the song!
upfrontNY: How does it feel to have released your first single?
Olivia Sanabia: I felt a little bit nervous about releasing my first single. As an actor you play other people, but when you make music, you are really telling the world who you are as an individual. I’m so excited that it’s officially out in the world for people to hear!
upfrontNY: When writing this song, did you have a special place that you would go to write that inspired you?
Olivia Sanabia: I have a special spot where I keep my piano, my mic, and the rest of my music equipment. It’s always where I go to write or play. It’s my little creative space.
upfrontNY: Can you tell us about the decision to film the music video with an acoustic version of “Stars Crossed”?
Olivia Sanabia: I almost always prefer the acoustic versions of songs, so I wanted to make that version for my own song. My vision for this music video was that I wanted to keep it simple and let the lyrics tell the story. That’s why I went with a one take, slow-mo video.
upfrontNY: Can you tell us about your show “Coop & Cami Ask the World”?
Olivia Sanabia: “Coop & Cami Ask the World” is a Disney Channel sitcom about a family navigating their crazy life! Coop and Cami have a live-streaming web show where they ask their fans ‘would you rather’ questions. It’s a sweet and silly show that will definitely make you laugh! We have a blast filming the show!
upfrontNY: You also star in “Just Add Magic.” Can you tell us about this series and your role as Kelly Quinn?
Olivia Sanabia: Yes! “Just Add Magic” is an Amazon original series that I had an amazing time working on! I grew up on that show, and I’m so grateful for all the memories I made. The show is about three best friends who find a magic cookbook and their journey with the magic.
upfrontNY: If you had magical powers, what would you wish for?
Olivia Sanabia: If I had magical powers, I would wish to cure everyone battling a disease. I would also wish for it to feel like Christmas all year round (because it’s the best feeling ever!)
upfrontNY: What has been your favorite part of being on set and filming?
Olivia Sanabia: My favorite part of filming is of course, the acting itself. I truly love my craft, and when people trust you to portray a character, it’s an honor. I also love getting to work with all different types of people. It’s so exciting to learn something from everyone.
upfrontNY: You are currently playing the role of Snow White in the Lythgoe Family Panto’s ten-year anniversary production of A Snow White Christmas. What was it like stepping back on stage, and perform panto?
Olivia Sanabia: I am having the best time getting back to my theater roots. The immediate gratification of performing live is unlike anything else. Also, I’m loving getting to play my favorite Disney princess!
