After receiving our tickets, we headed into a packed theatre.
Selma follows Martin Luther King Jr’s journey for equal voting rights. In 1965 an epic march was led from Selma to Montgomery, Alabama. The events following up to this event showed peaceful protests leading to arrests, brutal attacks, and death. In the distress of these events, hope did not vanish. People continued to gather in order to fight for equal rights. These events led to President Lyndon Johnson signing the Voting Rights Act.
This all star and talented cast told this story in an extremely powerful way. The pain, the aspiration, and the emotions poured off the screen into the hearts of those watching. David Oyelowo’s portrayal of Martin Luther King Jr. is as powerful as it is compelling.
See this movie the first opportunity you get!
