Shayla Souliere is an up and coming singer/songwriter from Canada. Her single “Screw U” was released recently & her new album will be out soon! Get to know the rising star!
upfrontNY: Which musicians have inspired you?
Shayla Souliere: I am really inspired by Beyonce and Rhianna for sure! They have such amazing voices!
upfrontNY: What was the first concert you’ve ever been to?
Shayla Souliere: I want to say my first concert I ever went to was Hilary Duff! I loved her when I was young haha
upfrontNY: What performer would you love to go on tour with?
Shayla Soulier: I have so many people I would love to tour with. But if I could pick one.. I would say Justin Bieber. I honestly have loved Justin Bieber I think probably since day one. He knows how to put on a great show and I believe overall he is a great artist!
upfrontNY: Do you have a favorite city you love performing in?
Shayla Souliere: I would have to say my hometown (Regina, Saskatchewan, Canada). There is no better feeling then playing for not only my amazing fans, but my friends and family as well!
upfrontNY: I know some performers have certain foods they eat or specific rituals they do before each show, do you have any?
Shayla Souliere: I don’t eat or drink anything that contains dairy the day of my show. I also try to maintain an overall healthy diet (every day) and I do my vocal warmups before I play a show.
upfrontNY: If you could compare your sound with any artist of today’s music or the past who would it be?
Shayla Souliere: Some of my music I think could relate to Becky G!
upfrontNY: What can you tell us about your youtube covers and which song was your favorite to record?
Shayla Souliere: I have a lot of covers recorded that aren’t actually released yet! But, I loved my cover I did with my good friends Kirsten Collins and Future Sunset of “Wherever I Go” by One Republic. We all had such a blast recording this cover together and shooting the video!
upfrontNY: When you’re writing your songs do you take ideas from personal experience or do you create different scenarios
Shayla Souliere: You know, I would say I do a bit of both. Being a songwriter you learn to soak up everything that happens with you, your friends, or even with someone you just met!
upfrontNY: Can you tell us about your upcoming EP?
Shayla Souliere: My upcoming EP shows many sides of me, everywhere from a soft side where my ballads come into play, all the way to high energy dance tracks! Im so excited to share it with everyone 🙂
upfrontNY: What do you do in your spare time?
Shayla Souliere: I love to hit the gym in my spare time, hang out with my friends, listen to music, and watch movies!
