Sleep No More
I finally had the chance to explore the world and performance of Punchdrunk’s “Sleep No More.” Sleep No More takes place in an old warehouse that has been transformed into The McKittrick Hotel.
The experience begins as you are given your room key. You are led into the Manderley Bar while awaiting entrance into the mysterious world that is Sleep No More. Groups are gathered, taken into an elevator, and dropped on to different floors.
The whole evening is intriguing and mysterious, designed to be an individual journey. The evening gives you the opportunity to wander freely throughout the building.
If you completely immerse yourself, you will have an unforgettable experience. There are several unmasked actors that you will come across. I stayed in certain rooms for a while, watching performances, but also decided to wander and follow some of the actors to see where it would take me, including a hidden room that I would not have seen otherwise. While in each room, many guests including myself truly explored the space, opening up drawers, reading letters, and looking for anything that might be hidden.
The acting and dancing was filled with moments of intensity, mystery, and excitement.
The experience ended back in the Manderley Bar giving guests a chance to get a drink, listen to the live band, and discuss what their evening was like.
I don’t want to give too much away. It is now your turn to explore. Buy a ticket, put on your mask, and let your inhibitions fade away.
Helpful Tips
Bring cash for the coat check. You will be required to check coats and bags including purses.
Wear comfortable shoes so that you can get lost while traveling throughout the rooms and possible running up and down stairs to follow the actors.
Head to the rooftop to check out The Lodge at Gallow Green, decorated to feel as if you’ve stepped into a cabin in the woods.
Have fun and explore!
