The Theory of Everything was everything I expected and more. From the laughs to the tears, this movie holds your attention. The movie is about the life of Stephen Hawking and highlights the events in his life from his struggles to his major accomplishments. This is an inspirational movie and true-life story of a person who has the odds against him and is still able to follow his dreams, believe in himself, and show the world what he is made of.
While in graduate school Hawking was diagnosed with motor neruone disease (ALS) . This disease affects the nervous system including the ability to walk, speak, and even swallow. He was given the life expectancy of 2 years. He has had a long battle with this disease and is currently 72 years old. Not only did Hawking beat the odds but he did it with pride and continued to follow his passion in physics and cosmology.
This movie pulls on your heart-strings and brings out a variety of emotions. The tears were often flowing as you see the pain and struggles that he and his family endured. You laughed as the story showed a great sense of humor of the characters. The performances by the cast were remarkable.
Felicity Jones portrayed Jane Hawking. She did a beautiful job as the strong wife standing by her husband’s side while loving and taking care of him through so many years.
Eddie Redmayne was unrecognizable as he completely transformed into Hawking. He became Stephen through his movements, his speech, and the way he lit up to show a passion of science. Redmayne did a great job showing tribute to a brilliant man. His performance as Stephen Hawking earned him a Golden Globes nomination. This is a nomination that is well deserved.
If you have not yet seen this movie, put it at the top of your list. You will be overfilled with the emotion of life. This movie motivates and proves the point that you need to fulfill your life’s purpose, your dreams, and your passion.
