On December 2^nd, 2017 Us The Duo who wrote the song “No Matter Where You Are” from the movie The Book of Life brought holiday cheer to the New York Society for Ethical Culture in New York City.

Telling stories interspersed throughout the show, husband and wife duo Michael and Carissa Alvarado told the packed house why they decided on a holiday album.  Being far from his family in North Carolina on the Holidays, Michael had always longed for the traditions that he grew up with and grew fond of.

The evening was filled with wonderful holiday music from the classics including “Winter Wonderland”, “Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas”, and “Rocking Around The Christmas Tree” to their original music including “Holiday Heartbreak”, “December”, and “Christmas in Paradise”.

During “Christmas In Paradise”, Carissa came out wearing a lei while carrying out two beach balls. The duo signed the beach balls and threw them out into an excited crowd.

A great moment that caught the crowd’s attention was when they performed “No Matter Where You Are”. A song which has a very special meaning to Carissa and Michael. Not only was this featured in a Golden Globe nominated film, but it was also their vows to each other. Their romance burned bright on stage when performing this song.

One of our favorite parts of the show was when the lights went on, the crowd got up on their feet, and the room filled with the sounds of “Joy To The World”. The lyrics were provided on the back of the program in order for all to join in song.

This was a wonderful way to bring in the holiday season.
